‘XVS-001’ is a short motion picture influenced primarily by the cinematic styles of filmmaker Terrence Malick (Tree of Life, The Thin Red Line, Days of Heaven) and auteur cinematographer/director Jack Cardiff (Black Narcissus, The Red Shoes, Sons and Lovers). Some of Malick’s key crew members were studied as well, including Hank Corwin, Leslie Jones, Saar Klein, Emmanuel Lubezki, Jay Rabinowitz, Daniel Rezende, John Toll, Billy Weber, and Mark Yoshikawa.

The official title of ‘XVS-001’ will be revealed when the trailer finds its way online.

‘XVS-001’ comes from XTA co-founders Andrew Yorke (who earlier this year penned the best-selling e-book Sharon Tate) and Kevin Michael. Their second project set for distribution, code-named ‘XVS-002’ is currently in post-production and is slated for a Q2 2012 release date. Later in 2012, XTA plans on premiering their first full-length motion picture VIDEOTAPE (code-named ‘XV-001’). No other details on either ‘XVS-002’ or VIDEOTAPE have been released to the public as of yet.

An open letter from xteamartists regarding the parole decision for Charles Manson.

In considering the parole of any prisoner, it is one’s hope that any parole board could entertain the possibility of change. Change in a prisoner’s behavior. Change in a prisoner’s conduct. The most important change, however, is that of a prisoner’s character. Looking at his personal history and his opportunities to change prior to his current incarceration, there can be no doubt—Charles Milles Manson is a man whose fundamental character cannot be changed.

The first twenty-five years of one’s life see a lot of change as one adapts to the nuances of society. During this time, one learns both the laws governing daily life and how to circumvent them. How to sneak out at night without getting caught and how to cheat on a school exam—yet Charles was learning to get away with armed robbery. Before his twenty-fifth birthday, Charles had escaped from institutions four times. He was paroled twice, once following three years in juvenile institutions. Serving multiple probations, he did not once honor the full term. By the time he saw his third release, he had been institutionalized or imprisoned for more than half of his life. The world to which Charles adapted was a cycle of crime and punishment.

In 1952, during a juvenile term at Natural Bridge Honor Camp, Charles Manson sodomized another boy while holding a razor blade to the boy’s throat. In 1961 and 1964, he was noted in his review at McNeil Island as having a tremendous drive to call attention to himself. Before the end of 1967, seven years after an arrest for pimping, Charles shared a residence with nineteen women. A year later, the young women were having sex on his order to obtain free room and board. The events that followed two years later, as well as accounts of how they came to happen, are public knowledge.

In researching the life of Sharon Tate, we encountered many stories of Charles Manson. It is the opinion of this organization that to deny parole is at once a deserved punishment and a merciful decision. He has spent more than two-thirds of his life in prison. As he has personally expressed the desire to remain incarcerated on more than one occasion, his ability to adjust after parole should be taken into serious question. Charles Manson’s history and his public statements also indicate a man who is and will continue to be a danger to society. He favors attention to a fault, and engenders both a conspiratorial nature and a desire to affect the world around him. Without taking a life, such a man can endanger the lives of others from a compulsion to conspire and control.

For the benefit of the public and all parties involved, this entire organization firmly submits that Charles Milles Manson be once again denied parole.

Due to the recent success of the Amazon best-seller Sharon Tate, quite a few individuals have contacted us over the last month or so inquiring about the author – Andrew Yorke. They want to know who he is, what he’s working on, what does he look like, and other details.

Due to his requests for privacy, we cannot offer any additional details that are not already available online (click here for additional information). However, we can release a photograph from the XTA archives of Andrew. But first, we’d like to preface the photograph by saying this:

While composing Sharon Tate, Andrew Yorke refused to cut his hair or shave until all work was complete. He locked himself in his apartment, turned off his cell phone, and averaged between 3 – 4 hours of sleep for several months.

Carl Antonowicz, a longtime friend of xteamartists (XTA), is one talented, suave gentleman. For years upon epochs, Antonowicz has observed life and its various jingles through various sketches, drawings and comics. When we were first putting together a website in 2009, Mr. Antonowicz offered his services, composing a number of beautiful and intricate designs and templates. While we ultimately decided to go with a different approach, we never forgot about Carl’s incredible passion, imagination, and exhaustive work ethic. On top of that, he oozes with talent.

On March 6, 2012, Sharon’s sister Debra Tate released a statement (with a follow-up on March 9) in response to the publication. She expressed severe dissatisfaction with the approach of this book and the implications made by its author.

I reject this book. I regard it as an insult to the memory of my parents and my two beloved sisters, filled, as it is, with un-attributed conversations, imagined thoughts, and demonstrably false incidents. It represents merely the latest in a long string of efforts by Ms. Statman to insinuate herself into my family’s life and history, present herself as an expert on the subject, realize her long dream to write about my family’s tragedy, and diminish my continued role as guardian of our family’s legacy.

As the publisher of Andrew Yorke’s Sharon Tate, we feel it necessary to clarify some points of our own. Sharon Tate was written by Andrew Yorke under the supervision of Debra Tate. From the very beginning, the decision was made to not publish any material on Sharon Tate until it met with the approval of her sister. The book does not approach the life of Sharon from an exploitive angle, nor from an excessively complimentary fashion. It was approached with a delicate balance between factual events and the feelings expressed by individuals closely associated with Sharon. The result is a work that, while considered unorthodox by some, illustrates qualities of Sharon’s life in a way that is completely grounded yet unique among relevant literature. Before Sharon Tate was published in the Amazon Store on January 24, 2012 (what would have been Sharon’s 69th birthday), Debra Tate sent an e-mail to Andrew Yorke, complimenting his approach and our delivery on such a sensitive subject.

This is so very special to me. You picked up on little things most people might not see.

No one at xteamartists (XTA) has read Restless Souls by Ms. Statman. Therefore, we will not pass judgement on the quality of Ms. Statman’s writing or on her approach to the material. However, we do find it troubling that Sharon’s sister and our friend met this work with such disdain and negativity. Debra Tate has spent many years protecting the Tate estate with numerous public appearances on news networks, Larry King, A&E, and at countless parole board hearings. We cannot help but wonder why such an individual’s opinion was not sought when composing this literary interpretation of Sharon Tate, her family, and her ongoing legacy.

Elizabeth, known by Lizzie or Liz to her friends and family, is the younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. She is also a graduate of the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

This is the second birthday portrait from xteamartists (XTA). Earlier last week, XTA unveiled their portrait for actress Emma Roberts, who turned 21 on February 10. Concerning both portraits, XTA affiliate Andrew Yorke (author of the Amazon hit Sharon Tate) was quoted as saying, “The portraits of Ms. Roberts and Ms. Olsen are the beginnings of an ongoing series of similar projects, to pay tribute to individuals’ current successes and prosperous futures.” Yorke continued by saying future portraits will not necessarily be limited to individuals in cinema and the arts. “There are a lot of birthdays in a year. The possibilities are endless.”

XTA is currently accepting nominations for candidates in the birthday portrait series. If you would like to nominate an individual, you may send your request to their Press Division.

As part of their promotion campaign, xteamartists (XTA) made “Sharon Tate” available for free on Valentine’s Day. In that single 24 hour period, over 170 units were given away to individuals around the world, including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain and Italy.
